May is Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month and we wanted to share our favorite picks:
Yes We Will: Asian Americans that Shaped this Country by Kelly Yang is an incredible resource that shares the triumphant stories of Asian Americans all across the country in various fields. This book includes more than 20 informative poems and gorgeous illustrations.
Eyes That Kiss the Corners by Johanna Ho is an empowering, lyrical story of a little girl who embraces who differences that make her beautiful. It is an incredible story of family roots and self love.
Punky Aloha by Shar Tuiasoa is about a girl, Punky who is a little shy when it comes to meeting new people. However, when her grandmother gives her a pair of super cool, magical sunglasses, she starts to feel more comfortable meeting new friends on the island of O’ahu.
Hundred Years of Happiness by Thanhhà Lại is a heartwarming story of a girl and her grandmother who suffers from memory loss. As the two work together in the garden pulling ingredients to make grandma’s favorite dish, wonderful memories of many years ago in Vietnam return.
Love in the Library by Maggie Tokuda-Hall takes place in an interment camp during WWII. Based on true events, it is a story of love in hope during a terrible time. Luli and the Language of Tea by Andrea Yang is a story of community and connection. Follow along as children who speak different languages all come together to enjoy some tea.

Rainbow Shopping by Qing Zhuang is a delightful tribute to shopping in Chinatown and spending quality time with family.
Ohana Means Family by Ilima Loomis is about a family in Hawaii preparing for a traditional luau. This is an incredible informative story about the history oh Hawaii and Hawaiian culture.
Good Night Philippines, Good Night World by Mila Bongco-Philipzig is a book of different people in different places saying goodnight to each other. Each spread highlights a specific place and language in the Philippines, as well as a place and language in another country, as separated Filipino loved ones bid each other good night.
Amy Wu and the Warm Welcome by Kat Zhang is the follow up book to Amy Wu and the Perfect Bao and it is just as incredible. Amy’s class has a new student from China and she does everything in her power to help him feel included and welcome.
