5 Favorite Kid's Books for Earth Day

Earth Day and beyond is a time to discuss with ourselves, our community, and our children the importance of taking care of the earth. Climate change is real and we can do something about it every day.

Here are some of our favorite picture books for Earth Day coming up:

Zonia’s Rain Forest by Juana Martinez-Neal is about a girl who lives in the Peruvian Amazon rain forest. It is a beautiful story of our bond with nature and how we can protect it.

We are Water Protectors by Carole Lindstrom is a beautiful book about needing to save our water. It pays homage to many of the Indigenous movements that have been led to save our Earth. This book is an urgent call to do something about our climate crisis.

Just Like Me, Climbing a Tree by Durga Yael Bernhard takes you on a trip around the world to see all different children climbing trees. The informational aspect of this book is amazing; including 12 different trees with educational notes about each of them.

Jayden’s Impossible Garden by Melina Mangal is a fantastic children’s book about the power of bringing a community garden to the city. Jayden’s love of nature inspires an entire community to come together in this vibrant story that celebrates the power of intergenerational relationships and connection.

A Planet Like Ours by Frank Murphy and Charnaie Gordon is a picture book that so vividly shares all of the beauties of the earth along with ways in which we can protect it. If encourages every person to do their part in order to do so.
