Voting is more important now than ever and we are here to help showcase some books that will empower the little ones in your life to use their voice.

Equality’s Call: The Story of Voting Rights in America by Deborah Diesen: This picture book takes a look back on the history of voting rights in our country. It highlights key activists who worked hard to secure the right for all to vote.

Grandaddy’s Gift by Margaree King Mitchell: A little girl understands the importance of education after hearing her grandfather’s story of voting in segregated Mississippi.

Finish the Fight by Veronica Chambers: A collection of untold stories from women who fought for the 19th amendment.

V is for Voting by Kate Farrell: An awesome ABC picture book that introduces children to the concepts of social justice and civil rights.

She was the First; The Trailblazing Life of Shirley Chisholm by Katheryn Russell-Brown: An inspirational story of the first Black woman to elected to congress, the first Black candidate for a major party's nomination for president, and the first woman to run for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination.
