Free Book Fair: Arcola Elementary

We love book fair days! I don’t have as many reflections as usual because I had to leave early, but there were still plenty of exciting moments:

The cheers never get old! When kids hear that the books are free they always get so excited.

A girl named Zara was so happy to find the Zara’s Rules series.

One little boy could not believe that I was an author. He grabbed my book and showed all of his classmates. He and a few others immediately asked me to sign their books.

I overheard a teacher telling her students that she’s never seen such a great collection of representation in books, which is exactly why we do what we do.

Books right now are not only our act of resistance, but they are the space that brings us joy. THANK YOU all for continuing to make this possible.
