Jordan is a student with a visual impairment. He uses a long, white cane to navigate through and explore his environment. Jordan imagines his tool has come to life, and gives it a name, Cane. While Jordan tells the reader about his cane and how it helps him, Cane tells Jordan about his surroundings, objects near him, or changes in the walking surface. Cane taps or slides across the floor and is always ready to help Jordan when he needs to use his tool. Cane and Jordan share many adventures, and with Cane by his side, anything is possible. Maybe one day they will go to the moon! Written by Abigail LaHue and illustrated by Tanya Forys.

Amazing book that increases awareness about visual impairments!

My copy just came in the mail today and I am so excited! My Pal Cane is an empowering story that increases representation of children with visual impairments in books. It includes several pages of information at the end that parents or educators could use to teach children about tools, like white canes, that support those who have visual impairments. Highly recommend!

A fantastic resource!! All of the extra content was very well done and extremely helpful in saving valuable teacher time (especially for this busy TVI/COMS). Love it!
