With everything going on in the world as of late, we wanted to make sure we let YOU, our friends & supporters, know where we stand. It should come as no surprise if you have been following along our journey for quite some time now. We have always believed in the Black Lives Matter movement and will continue to make that support known. It is easy to say racism has no place in this country, post a black square on your social media and call it a day, but as a white people we know there is much more to do than simply post something because it appears to be the latest trend. Speaking out against racism is not a trend; lives are at stake. Don’t let the brutal murder of George Floyd in broad daylight be the only time and only reason you speak up. If you want to practice allyship (something we are continuing to learn) you need to be committed every day to do better. You must be ready to take criticism, decenter yourself, and grow. You need to listen and amplify Black voices; not invade their spaces with questions Google can answer for you. You need to commit to calling out racism; especially around those you love. It’s time to get real uncomfortable at the dinner table friends because allowing microagressions, such as jokes slide by is perpetuating the problem and leads to dangerous outcomes. White people need to speak up. Below are some ways you can continue to learn, grow, and do better.
