Free Book Fair: Fox Chapel Elementary School

Our last FREE book fair of the 2024/2025 school year was a HIT!

Now, more than ever these inclusive book fairs are needed. Learning about different people and cultures builds empathy, which is something that is being stripped from children across so many schools throughout the country.

Children were so excited to find books that interested them. They felt seen on the covers and in the pages of the books.

As always, we share reflections from the book fairs…

One 5th grade student pulled aside the book, Dear Muslim Child and asked to save it for his brother in pre-k.

The most popular book of the day was, Who Was LeBron James. We gave out about 100 copies!

So many students grabbed copies of Black-Eyed Susan winner, What Happened to You. There were beautiful discussions between the children about disability access and rights.

One little girl squealed when she saw the book, Amazing Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders Who Inspire Us All because she loved that we had a book about influential Asian Americans.

As always, the teachers were so grateful and could not believe that all the books were free.
