Book fair reflection time!!!

Yesterday we had the honor of doing a book fair at a two way immersion school, which means half of their day is taught in English and half in Spanish.
This is the second year we’ve been able to do a book fair during summer school and I have found it to be super special.
The kids and teachers were incredibly grateful and every staff member commented on the beautiful selection of books that represented everyone.

One little girl hugged me for having books that she could bring home and read with her mom.

A boy in 2nd grade took three books because his siblings were out sick and he needed them to experience the joy of the book fair too.

Another boy told me all about a holiday that he celebrates with his family that was also showcased in the book he chose, ‘Home is in Between’.

A teacher grabbed a book that had a main character using a wheel chair because she knew her student would feel seen.

I know we sound like broken records sharing these experiences, but they matter. This is why we do what we do. Books create joy. They open up chances to feel seen. They help children learn about themselves and others. And for that, we are eternally grateful.
